About Dr. L Carol Scott
Dr. L. Carol Scott
is dedicated to the evolution of human potential using the wisdom of childhood.
She is an educational, inspirational, and motivational speaker, “a
breath of fresh air” for conference and workshop audiences.
Dr.
Scott is a nationally-known consultant, author and motivational speaker,
and former teacher and administrator in early education, pre-k through
3rd grade. She has devoted almost 30 years to teaching and learning about
the experiences of young children and their impact on later life. She
acquired her knowledge of child development as a process, its adult effects,
and the resolution of the resulting adult challenges, not just through
academia and professional application, but from personal experience as
well.
The services Dr. Scott
provides are grounded in her education in human development and child
psychology, and in her decades of work with young children, families,
pre-k through 3rd grade teachers, university faculty, administrators in
education, and leaders in business and government.
Since 1977, she has been as an observer, student and teacher of human
development. After an undergraduate degree that encompassed a double major
in Human Development and Anthropology, as well as a minor in Psychology,
she earned her MA in Human Development in 1979 and her PhD in Developmental
and Child Psychology in 1995. All these degrees were awarded by the University
of Kansas, where Dr. Scott learned from and was mentored by internationally-respected
leaders in the study of human behavior, child development and psychology.
She has directly observed
and experienced the developmental processes of hundreds of children and
adults
